Brent Peterson
Biography

When Brent was only 4 years old his father took him to see Star Wars at his grandfather’s theater in Taos, New Mexico.   It was the very beginning of Brent’s film career.  Completely taken by the power of his cinematic experience, he took hold of his crayons and set out to illustrate a 47 page book of what he had seen on the silver screen.

Later as a young teenager he began casting his siblings and friends in home video productions and took every opportunity to get his teachers at school to allow him to turn oral reports into video documentary projects.    Because there were no film or video classes available, he also persuaded the librarian into allowing him to become a library aide.    But the agreement was that instead of helping with the books he would teach himself how to edit on a dusty VHS editing console that the high school staff only used to make dubs.

Immediately after high school graduation, Brent secured an internship at a local TV station while a freshman at the University of New Mexico.   His college education would become a long and winding road.    He took film classes part-time where he could and started work as a professional freelancer, shooting for NBC, CNN, and the host of network broadcast companies.    He also found himself writing and directing local/regional commercials, and working on a slew of corporate videos - all while supporting a new marriage and family.  By the time he finally graduated from college he was already an accomplished Videographer, Sound Recordist, AVID Editor and Director/Producer.

But his real desire had always been to make dramatic films.   In 2000, Brent finally finished his first professional short film, “Death Awaits” which has gone on to receive critical acclaim on the internet and is currently hosted by Urbanchillers.com out of London.   A more ambitious period short film called “Conquistador” was next in 2002 followed by the recent short films, “The Line” and “Just Peachy” which are receiving praise at film festivals and film & video competitions currently. Next up for Brent will be the completion of two more short films and the development of his first feature film, titled "Twin Paradox."
